Scenario
After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her teenage daughter Astrid accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife. Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci share why filming Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice was an experience they’ll never forget. Tim Burton said that this film would only be made if Michael Keaton returned to reprise his role.

I will admit that I went into this film without any expectations, expectations or nostalgia for the first film. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be the movie for me, but when the movie started, the camera panning across the ground and the dark but cheerful score playing, I thought maybe I would enjoy it. In fact, the score and soundtrack were one of the highlights, although it was less Joker and more Adams family.
It was crazy, funny at times and looked good
We’ve introduced a lot of fun and quirky characters old and new, including three generations of the Deetz family, but I love that the movie didn’t just repeat the first one. For example, while Lydia Deetz was weird and sympathetic to the paranormal in the original film, her daughter Astrid, played by Jenny Ortega, is a skeptic of all ghosts while still managing to give off Wednesday Adams vibes. When you think about it, the story naturally had to go in a new direction while still involving the afterlife. While the story can be over the top and downright predictable at times, it’s fine for what it is, but it leaves a lot to do as it clocked in at an hour and 45 minutes of runtime.
If you liked the first one, will you like this one?
Overall, I had fun with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and I had a better time than I expected and I believe it can attract new fans. I can’t say, but I wish it came out closer to Halloween because it would make for some hilarious spooky fun.
