Scenario

Claire Beauchamp Randall, a nurse in World War II, mysteriously travels back in time to Scotland in 1743. There, she meets a handsome Highland warrior and becomes embroiled in an epic rebellion. Moore (the developer of the TV series), his team decided to keep the words in Gaelic rather than translating them into English.

This kept the narrative in the first person by showing Claire’s inability to understand Gaelic

This idea was suggested by producer David Brown, who said he had seen something similar in Skin Deep (1998), a foreign alternative film starring actor and singer Gustavo Goulart. In some episodes, the characters say “OK.” An American term that did not come into use until the 19th century. The opening song changes from season to season to reflect what is happening in the story.

During Season 3, tribal drums are added because much of the season is set in the West Indies

In the first half of season 2 (which is set in France), some of the lyrics are in French. In the second half of Season 2 (which is largely about preparing for war), a militaristic drum roll is added to the opening song. In Season 4, bluegrass fiddle and banjos are added, plus some of the lyrics are sung in a southern accent because the season is largely set in America.

I devoured the entire series and loved it!

This show has something for everyone and I’m so glad I finally gave it a chance because it’s become one of my favorite shows!

And that is so annoying

None of the characters communicate with each other or share what is going on in the town. It’s as if they have suddenly become oblivious, deliberately withholding important information that could help them figure out what is going on. Also, in every single episode, something new happens, but it is never explained. I have watched 14 episodes so far, and nothing has been made clear, just like “Lost”.

So please, writers and producers, don’t ruin this one too

Absolutely top tier production and acting throughout. The screenplay is clever and interesting, engaging and well-paced.

Character development is pretty robust, and the players aren't simple caricatures

Again and again a character at first appears to be one-dimensional, but then the story develops and they actually are much more complex than the first blush.My only complaint is that some of the injected "romance" storylines are so ham-fisted and out of place they are disjointed and jarring. Professional situations that suddenly devolve into "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy" seemingly out of nowhere.

Someone decided to soap opera the show up a bit and it does not improve the result
