With their abilities outmatched, Team Sonic must forge an unlikely alliance
Scenario
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails are reunited against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. The filmmakers of the previous films have cited playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2001) and the standalone game Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) for inspiration.

The film also draws narrative elements from the Saturday morning animated television series Sonic the Hedgehog (1993). In the Knuckles TV series, Sonic said, “Robotnik is gone, and there is no new battle to fight.” However, in this film, he tells Tails and Knuckles that they must ask Dr.
